| This game takes place a year after the events in The Lost World. You play Anne, who is just taking a vacation. But she gets a lot more than she expects. On her way to whereever she was going, she wants to take a look of the chain of 5 islands known as the five deaths. Something goes wrong, and her plane crashes, leaving her stranded on one of the islands. Of course this is the famous Isla Sorna (or Site B), half fact, half urban legend. But Anne doesn't realize that at first, but soon after, is on the adventure of her life looking for any traces of the civilization that was once there . . . | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Gameplay | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Gameplay in Trespasser is very unique and new to the gamer. Almost every object in Trespasser you can pick up and use, from a magnum or an assault rifle to sticks, rocks, or bats. In Trespasser, you invent your own way of doing things. Not like in Myst or any other games like that, where there's only one certain way to do things. The object in Trespasser is to look for any signs of civilization, and find your way to a phone or something else to reach the outside world. There are 15 km of outside space to explore in Trespasser which hide many dangers. There are 8 levels, about 2km each separated by bariers, whether it be a fence or mountain range. You could almost get through the game without killing a single dinosaur. Guns are scarce. You want to prove to the animals that you are not an easy meal and to find something else to rip apart. Rocks, tables, even the but of your gun, everything's a weapon. But you could also use your head and lead that pack of raptors over there over to that hungry T-rex and hope for the best. You might want to seek shelter by a group of Triceratops or Brachiosaurs. Whatever you do, you must use your head to survive untill you can find a way off the island. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Graphics | ||||||||||||||||||||
| In Trespasser, the graphics aren't just cheap, mushy shapes and colors. Trespasser graphics are as realistic as the real world. The ground isn't just a mix of green and brown. Everything has a shadow (except you). In most games, the objects are just repeated over and over throughout the whole game. It gets boring, and Trespasser is anything but. Did you ever notice in games how a grudgy wall meets a clean floor at a perfect line? Or how about when you shoot a light out, but the light coming from it is still there? Trespasser is nothing like that, either. Things don't just suddenly disappear and things don't go through stuff. At least not as much as in other games. The dinosaurs look very realistic, and are bump mapped and have special surface curvature. Trespasser does not have any graphics used to fill space, and I bet you won't ever see anything visually break down. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Physics | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Trespasser's physics engine makes it one of the most realistice games. Objects can be stacked, thrown, and used in ways you world in the real world. You can design your own weapon, or push a table on it's side to block an opponent. Things react just the way they would in the real world. Say you take your assault rife and slam the butt of it into a raptor's head. The raptor's head would be knocked back a certain amount according to thr velocity and angle of the swing. The raptor may even be knocked over. Doors and tables have individual breaking strengths. A barrel can be thrown in the water and shot and it will be pushed so far depending on the weapon you use. Nothing has been pre-programed. It all happens spontaniously. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Audio | ||||||||||||||||||||
| In most games, audio has been pretty dull. The music may be pretty cool, but the effects are not too great. Most of the time, you probably get the same sound twice when you do the same thing under different conditions. What if you tapped on a window with your magnum? Then what if you throw that same magnum at that window? Would it have the same sound? I should hope not! In the situations described above, the sound would differ depending on the speed and angle of the attack, just like the impact. In Trespasser, you'll have to struggle to make the same sound twice. The music is pretty awesome, too. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Dino AI | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Dinosaur Al is one of the spectacular features of Trespasser. Individuals have different levels of curiocity, hunger, thirst, anger, and thresholds for pain. There are no pre-programed animations, if the dinos are hungry they go out and hunt you down. First they study you, then attack. The Trikes or Brachiosaurs might not pay too much attension to you. But when it comes to a hungry rex or raptor, you'd better make them have a higher opinion of you. | ||||||||||||||||||||
