This website is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions

What do I mean biblical? I mean Old Testament Mr. Visitor, real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone falling down from the sky, the rivers and seas boiling. 40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifices, dogs and cats living together… MASS HYSTERIA.

Spambusters!

We are actively working to prevent this website from descending into the tenth level of the dark place, and I spent the last two weeks dealing with a mass spam migration. We are currently in the corner penthouse of spam central. Well, let’s say that a Twinkie represents the normal amount of spam in the TresCom area. Based on this morning’s reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds. That’s a big twinkie.

Because of this, we need all new members to verify that they are real people by sending us an email with their username to trescomops*NOSPAM*@*NOSPAM*hotmail.com (Remove the *NOSPAM*s).

With the insane amount of spambots STILL flooding our inactive user list, I’m requesting that all who have recently registered and are awaiting admin approval are to email me with their chosen username. This will save me a lot of time deciding who to activate and who needs to be deleted.

Anti-Spam Countermeasures

Do to the sudden ridiculous amounts of spambots flooding the forums, I have been forced to set account activation to “by Admin” meaning that from now on once a user registers, they cannot post until an admin checks their IP for spam history. I have also adjusted our CAPTCHA settings to hopefully keep the amount of spambots to a minimum.

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause people wishing to join our site but due to each morning having upwards of 50 spam posts on the forums to deal with, it has proven to be necessary.
